Maesteg Town Hall
The Grade II listed building is being restored back to its former glory by protecting the Hall’s period features and cultural heritage, whilst adding modern facilities that performers, participants and audiences need and expect.
These include a new glass atrium, studio theatre and cinema space, a café and mezzanine bar, and a modern library. The venue’s accessibility will be greatly enhanced with the addition of a public lift and Changing Places toilet facilities for disabled visitors.
Y Muni
Currently at RIBA stage 3, the redevelopment scheme aims to secure the Grade II listed building’s heritage and celebrate its stunning gothic architecture, while re-establishing Y Muni as one of South Wales’ highest quality theatres.
Supporting professional and community-based artists across the region, Y Muni will be a destination of choice that complements the heritage and growing offer of Pontypridd as a town.
Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl
Bridgend County Borough Council has announced that it has been successful in its bid for the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund to redevelop the Grand Pavilion with a range of new facilities, including function rooms, a rooftop function and café space offering elevated sea views, a studio theatre, office facilities, business incubation or workshop spaces and improved toilet facilities, including a new Changing Places provision.
The plans, developed in partnership with Awen Cultural Trust, had been in the pipeline since 2016 with feasibility studies already undertaken.
