Awen Cultural Trust has entered into a new partnership to bring professional pantomime to two of its venues.
The new partnership with Scott Ritchie Productions will bring back professional pantomime to the stage of the recently redeveloped and reopened Maesteg Town Hall this Christmas, as well as producing the annual show as part of our continued commitment to our audiences at the Met in Abertillery. Scott Ritchie Productions has a strong reputation of producing high quality, audience-pleasing performances which will help ensure access to these festive productions at a regional level.
Richard Hughes, Chief Executive of Awen Cultural Trust, said:
“Following a competitive tender process, we are delighted to have awarded the contract to Scott Ritchie Productions who have a proven track record of delivering successful professional pantomimes and other productions for theatres across the UK. It has been several years since we hosted a professional panto in Maesteg Town Hall so we look forward to welcoming lots of families back to the venue for a fabulous festive experience. Similarly, we know our regular panto customers at The Met are going to enjoy this year’s pantomime – guaranteed to be full of humour, music and audience interaction. We will reveal the title and on sale date for tickets very soon!”
Scott Ritchie said:
“We are thrilled to have been offered the opportunity to collaborate with Awen Cultural Trust and can’t wait to present our Christmas production at the Met in Abertillery. It is particularly exciting for us to be bringing pantomime back to the redeveloped Maesteg Town Hall. Everyone is in for a real treat this festive season at both venues. Expect lots of singing, dancing and heaps of fun! We adore producing the artform of pantomime and seeing the joy it brings our audiences of all ages!”

About Scott Ritchie Productions
Scott Ritchie Productions (SRP) made their theatrical debut in 2015 at The Old Rep Theatre, Birmingham with a production of Treasure Island and were invited to return in 2016 to produce the in-house festive offering. SRP hosted The Three Degrees live in concert in 2016, followed by The Northern Soul Tour in 2017. They presented ‘Aladdin’ in 2017 at The New Theatre, Peterborough, which was the first Christmas production at this historic venue in ten years. In 2018 SRP produced a new touring version of ‘The Wind in the Willows’. 2019 saw another new touring production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ which played in thirty beautiful theatres across the UK and added more stunning venues to their ever-growing portfolio! SRP presented the Christmas production at the beautiful Broadway Theatre in Letchworth Garden City in 2019. They were delighted to produce ‘Christmas Spectacular’ in December 2020, our first production at Bournemouth Pavilion. For the 2021 Christmas season, SRP collaborated with South Mill Arts Centre, Bishop’s Stortford to create their end of year production, which was followed by an extensive forty date UK tour throughout 2022. ‘The Little Mermaid’ was SRP’s new production for 2024 which opened at The Capitol Theatre, Horsham, before heading out on a forty-five date UK tour, playing their first ever run of London shows along the way.
